LED Lighting is Better for Employee Health

Whether you are responsible for lighting offices, warehouses or factories, the lighting solution you choose can impact on the health of your employees.  It might not have been something you ever considered before, but the benefits to the company can include less absence days and happier more productive staff.  It might be time to consider LED lighting as your new solution because it offers such good benefits to health.

Poor Lighting

If you have lighting in your workspaces that is too dim, something often caused by older style lighting systems, you can cause eye problems.  Having to strain to see properly can cause headaches and fatigue from overworking the eyes.  If lights are not bright enough you are also looking at employees that are tired, even drowsy, which in turn will lead to poor focus and decreased output.  Staff that feel headachy and demotivated because they are tired are much more likely to take days off sick.  It could even cause a loss of a good employee, because away from work they feel so much better and begin to equate the issues to a job they can no longer continue with.

Overly Bright Lights

For a long time the easiest and most adopted solution to poor lighting was to switch to fluorescent lighting.  However, this can actually cause as many issues.  Fluorescent lighting is actually too bright and provides a very harsh light.  Again this can cause eye strain and headaches, migraines being a more common side effect of overly bright lighting conditions.  In turn this also has a knock onto a decreased productivity and poor sense of wellbeing.

LED Lighting is Different

LED light bulbs provide a more eye friendly light which can really help your employees.  LED lights offer a warmer light that gives a brighter lighting solution when compared to old style dim lighting, yet does not have the glare and harshness of fluorescent bulbs.  LED lighting therefore doesn't cause the eyestrain which means a decrease in headaches, and hopefully an increase in overall wellbeing and happiness at work.

Other Benefits of LED

There are other benefits to LED lighting which make it a really winning choice.  LED lights are cheaper to run, and can actually save up to 90% on your energy bills, which is a significant saving that cannot be ignored.  LED bulbs also last longer, a lot longer.  You can get over three times the life out of LED bulbs compared with older style lighting which makes them cheaper to maintain as you will make less bulb changes.  They use less energy and do not have heat as a wasted byproduct which is also better for the environment and helps businesses reduce that all important carbon footprint.   Finally, as if that wasn't enough, LED lights are also extremely controllable, with dimmer systems, lights that operate on movement sensors or lights that only come on at certain times.

Over all LED lighting systems offer a myriad of health and financial benefits to people working in, or running, commercial premises.  If you would like to find out more about switching to an LED lighting system please do contact us.
